In the spring of 2011 IXR started as a small group of technology hobbyists and nerds working in a basement at the InfoAge Science Center in Wall, New Jersey.

Today the makerspace, now located in a larger, more accessible space at InfoAge, is a large collective of many creative types who come together to share tools, resources, knowledge, and ideas.

IXR's mission is to help lower the barriers to invention, creativity, and innovation - by providing access to resources, equipment, and community - that an individual maker may not have otherwise. It embraces the sharing of ideas and innovation, including open source hardware and software.
